Fishing Report: January 31,2009

Taking a break from Coast Guard  licensing in Astoria, we hit the water on low, clear conditions hoping to find a few fish.  With the water temps hovering a little below 40 degrees we did not expect the fish to be very aggressive, but hoped that there would at least be a few biters.  Although pressure was fairly heavy, I do not think that it determined the outcome of the days efforts.  At this point the ratio of fish to fisherman is relatively low, making for some long days with intermittent reward.  Keep your fingers crossed that we will receive some rain, bringing a fresh influx of fish into our coastal waters.
